- ONE advising session (we recommend 2-3 advising sessions) with your DHFYE Academic Advisor
- FOUR meetings with your DHFYE Student Success Academic Peer Coach
- ONE Freshmen Advising for Successful Toros (FAST) Workshop
- Attend group meetings, events and activities hosted by the Dominguez Hills First Year Experience Program
Toro Student Success Academic Peer Coaches
The Toro Student Success Academic Peer Coaches is open to all incoming freshmen and transfer students. The Peer coach offers 1:1 or group coaching on a variety of timely topics that are inspirational, informational, and relevant services.
The University Advisement Center believes that CSUDH students deserve the highest level of care and support, and that they are a part of a broader Toro community. As such, it assembles the best to empower students to succeed in and outside of the classroom.

Peer coaches supports you in
- Engaging you in highly interactive sessions or regularly scheduled, one-on-one meetings to expand your network
- Connecting you with other first-year CSUDH students and upper-class students to keep you accountable to your academic plans.
- Sharing information relevant to your specific academic issues (test-taking, time management, etc….) as a new incoming freshman and transfers
Appointments
Appointments will usually last 30 minutes and can be scheduled on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. The focus and purpose of these one-on-one meetings is to provide

- Structure - organizational skills
- Support - goal setting and encouragement
- Feedback - progress and growth
