The Center for Advocacy, Prevention, and Empowerment (CAPE) at CSU Dominguez Hills is a dedicated support resource offering confidential assistance to students, staff, and faculty affected by interpersonal harm (unwanted sexual experiences, intimate partner harm, and stalking.) Our mission is to reduce potential barriers to academic, professional, and personal success caused by interpersonal harm. CAPE is committed to empowering informed decision-making, enhancing safety, and fostering positive coping skills to improve overall well-being and campus connections through education and advocacy.
CAPE provides free support to CSUDH students, staff, and faculty regardless of when or where the harm occurred.
How CAPE can help:
- Confidential and Non-Judgmental Support: CAPE provides a safe and confidential space for discussing matters related to interpersonal harm, such as unwanted sexual experiences, intimate relationship harm, and stalking.
- Information and Empowerment: We equip individuals with information about their rights, options, and resources to support them in making informed decisions that best suit their needs.
- Assistance with Reporting: CAPE offers support and guidance with reporting sexual misconduct to the police and CSUDH's Office of Equity and Inclusion (Title IX.)
- Advocacy: We assist individuals in obtaining reasonable housing, employment, and academic relief to help them navigate the aftermath of interpersonal harm.
- Safety Planning: CAPE helps individuals create safety plans tailored to their specific situations and provides assistance, including accompaniments, in obtaining restraining orders.
- Consultation for friends, family, and campus staff: CAPE offers guidance and support to campus staff, friends, and family members on best supporting someone who may have experienced interpersonal harm.
- Educational Programs: We conduct workshops and campaigns to raise awareness about interpersonal abuse, fostering a safer and more respectful campus community.
- Training: We provide comprehensive training sessions for students, staff, and faculty to improve overall response and understanding of interpersonal harm.
*CAPE Counselors maintain strict confidentiality as mandated by California Evidence Code Sections 1035.2 and 1037.2 and does not disclose information about individuals who use our services to external organizations or other campus departments
Hours of operation: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-6:00 pm. (Weekend appointments are also available upon request.)

About Title IX Sexual Misconduct Reporting
CAPE does not receive or document reports of sexual misconduct, but we offer information and assistance for reporting such incidents.
