Each music major is required to present one or more recitals or a project appropriate to the degree program before being approved for graduation.

Recital FAQ

What happens if I don’t attend the recital meeting

If you do not attend the recital meeting, you will not be allowed to schedule an on-campus recital. If you are unable to attend the recital meeting in person, it will be available via YouTube (CSUDH Performing Arts YouTube Page). If you watch it on YouTube, you will need to fill out the quiz that will be provided to you. Please email SHumenski@csudh.edu if you have any questions.

I have already done a recital and attended a recital meeting in a previous semester, do I still need to attend the meeting?

Yes. You must attend the recital meeting each semester you present a recital. Policies and procedures change from time to time.

When may I schedule my recital?

Immediately, if you are going to do your recital within the first 6 weeks of classes. You may schedule after the recital meeting.

When/where may I present my recital?

On-Campus

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays at 7:30pm
  • Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30pm
  • Not during breaks (Fall Break, Spring Break, or when the campus is closed)
  • Not during Finals Week

Off-Campus

  • Any Time, subject to the recital committee members' agreement to attend and the Music Department and Recital Coordinator's approval.
  • Limited live-streaming or technical support is available for off-campus recitals
