CSUDH New Leading Edge Teaching Program Is Accepting Scholarship Applications for Fall 2024

Carson, CA. (Feb 1, 2024) — The College of Education and the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing is now accepting scholarship applications for their newest educational program, Toros Teach Los Angeles (TTLA).

The University is offering the new program in the 2024-25 school year. Both colleges are currently developing the PK-3 teaching credential and other curriculum to uplift future educators, especially educators of color.

Details on eligibility can be found on the TTLA Scholarship portal:

All applications must be submitted through the CSUDH scholarship link. No deadline extensions will be granted.

State and university leaders view higher education as a key component to addressing the shortage of minority teachers throughout Southern California.

“Awarding scholarships is one action we’re taking to address staffing shortages, and to ensure that historically marginalized students in the highest-need schools get the quality educators they deserve,” said Jessica Pandya, Ph.D., Dean for the College of Education.

CSUDH is committed to supporting and helping students achieve their teaching dreams, which is why the university will be awarding over $500,000 in scholarships in its first year of the program’s inception.

Mi-Sook Kim, Ph.D., Dean for the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing, says that as an anchor institution for the Los Angeles Area, CSUDH holds a deep connection to the surrounding region and is committed to helping future aspiring educators make a difference in the education system.

“We are providing financial assistance to students who demonstrate a passion for teaching and commitment to Toro excellence,” says Kim.

Students who are interested in enrolling in the new program can visit the TTLA’s Early Childhood Excellence webpage or contact Dr. Chanel Green, TTLA Pathway Specialist at ttla@csudh.edu.

The window to apply is open for CSUDH students now through March 7th.
