Position Description

The Department of Psychology at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized, applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments.

The Position

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. 

Responsibilities

Teach assigned upper division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in psychology or a field relevant to the curriculum.
  • A doctoral degree or extensive professional experience is required to teach graduate courses.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at a college level.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
  • A Ph.D., enrollment in a doctoral program, or extensive professional experience.

Employment Requirement – Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.  CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
