Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training Course
Course Description/Schedule
Course Requirements
This course is offered on a credit/no credit (CR/NC) basis. Students must earn a grade of CR to sit for the National Certifying Exam (NREMT). Success in the course with a grade of CR will be determined by:
- Participating in all class activities
- Demonstrating mastery of course objectives
- Demonstrating professional and ethical behavior
- Meeting minimum attendance, quiz and test scores, and ride-along requirements
Attendance Policy
- Student attendance is required for the entire period of each class meeting in order to receive credit (CR) for the course
- Student participation in scheduled ride-alongs is required in order to receive credit (CR) for the course
- Course uniform must be worn to each class session and ride along
Evaluation Policy
- Quizzes: cumulative score of 80% minimum
- Unit exams: cumulative score of 70%
- Final exam: minimum passing score of 70%
- Skills Final Exams: pass/no pass with at least 80%, and 100% on all critical criteria
- Ride-alongs: minimum of 36 hours and contact 10 field patients
