Admission Requirements & Procedures
Admission Requirements
- A B.A. or B.S. degree from a regionally accredited college or university. The degree does not need to be in a field of the humanities.
- A grade point average of 3.0 or better in the last 60 semester (or 90 quarter) units of upper-division work attempted, excluding lower division work completed after obtaining the Bachelor’s degree. Students with a grade point average of 2.5 may be admitted under exceptional circumstances, at the discretion of the Coordinator.
Admission Procedures
- For the period of June 1 - July 14, Fall 2017 applications will only be accepted via printed application. Print the application, fill it out, and fax it to 310-516-3428.
- Mail a check made out to "California State University, Dominguez Hills" for $55, and send to:

- Contact your previous college(s) to request that 2 official transcripts from each postsecondary institution attended be sent to the HUX Office at CSUDH at huxonline@csudh.edu.
- Send to the HUX program office at huxonline@csudh.edu the HUX Supplemental Application, a personal statement and a letter of recommendation (both as described on the supplemental application form). Note that while the supplemental application asks you to detail your academic experiences in the Humanities, you can be admitted without such experiences. All application materials must be received by the deadlines.
- During the first term after admission (excluding summer), students must fulfill the Graduate Writing Assessment Requirement with a score of eight or better on the Graduate Writing Examination (GWE). The GWE may be repeated one time.
Application Deadlines
For official admission to the program, application and all materials
required must be in the HUX office by the following dates:
- Fall Admission: July 14 (2017 only)
- Spring Admission: November 1
- Summer Admission (Sessions 1 and 2): March 1
