Course Description

This course covers recognition of hazards and risks associated with a pandemic influenza event. This course will emphasize on developing strategies to assist businesses and communities in preparing for an epidemic event.

This course offers information on strategies that can be used to control the spread of the virus, minimizing exposure to employees and family, and resources available from OSHA and other government agencies. The intended audience is the business leader and members of their management team who may be integral to preparedness planning. Upon course completion, students will have the ability to prepare for a pandemic event to assure business continuity and employee safety.

Who Should Attend

Individuals responsible for overseeing safety in industries such as: Construction, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Maritime and General Industry.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe types of aerosol transmissible diseases
  2. Identify engineering controls for aerosol transmissible diseases
  3. Identify appropriate types of personal protective equipment (PPE) needed for aerosol transmissible diseases
  4. Identify appropriate respiratory protection for aerosol transmissible diseases
  5. Create aerosol transmissible diseases exposure control plans
  6. Create preparedness plans for an influenza pandemic.
