Admissions Requirements

CSUDH is a non-impacted campus for upper-division transfer applicants.

Upper division students are eligible for admission to the CSU if they meet the following requirements:

  1. Have completed 60 transferable semester units (90 quarter units)
  2. Have completed at least 30 semester (45 quarter) units of general education courses, graded C- or better in each course including:
    • 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units in written communication,
    • 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units in oral communication,
    • 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units in critical thinking, AND
    • 1 course of 3 semester (4 quarter) units in mathematics/quantitative reasoning. The mathematics course must be above the level of intermediate algebra. Go to for listings of CCC courses that meet the general education requirements.
  3. Have a grade point average of 2.00 or better in all transferable college units attempted; and
  4. Are in good standing at the last college or university attended (i.e. eligible to re–enroll at that college or university).

This transfer plan clears all course deficiencies that might have occurred in high school.

*BSN applicants refer to the School of Nursing for additional admission criteria.

Cal State Apply Application Workshops

Application Checklist

1. Unofficial Transcripts

You will be asked to enter all courses you completed, those currently in progress, and any courses you plan to take.

2. Social Security Number

Have your social security number ready (if you have one) for financial aid purposes.

3. Personal Email

Use your personal email address. Do not use the email that your high school assigned to you.

4. Apply for Fall 2022

Apply online from October 1, 2021 through December 15, 2021 via Cal State Apply. CSUDH makes admission decisions based on self-reported information from the application! All admitted students who intend to enroll at CSUDH will be required to submit an official transcript to verify eligibility.

5. Apply for Financial Aid

Apply online from October 1, 2021 through March 2, 2022 for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application and use School Code 001141.

6. Pay Application Fee

A $70 non-refundable application filing fee (or fee waiver) must be paid at the time of application submission. Application fee waivers allow you to apply to four CSU campuses. Instructions for payment can be found on Cal State Apply.

7. Check Application Status

The Office of Admissions will communicate your next steps in the admission process via email. Email is the official method of communication for California State University, Dominguez Hills.

English Proficiency

If English is not your native language, or you have not had three years (full-time) of your secondary education (or higher) taught in English, you will need to provide proof of your English proficiency. Since most classes are taught in English, you will need to demonstrate your ability to read, write, and speak English. For more information, please review the English Proficiency Requirement.
