Transformative Teaching: Strategies for Cultivating Deep Learning, Reflective Thinking and Equitable Classrooms
How do we foster deeper learning among students, build habits of reflection and metacognition, and develop mathematical thinking and problem solving? How do we build a classroom that fosters equitable learning and that is culturally responsive to our students?
In this workshop, we will discuss a framework called Reading Apprenticeship that will enable us to strategize and seek solutions to these critical questions. We will see lessons that embody the use of some key strategies, and there will be time to plan for ways to implement these ideas with your own students.
Math Circles bring together K-12 educators and mathematicians to work on interesting problems and topics in mathematics. Math circle meetings are interactive and lead to deep mathematical concepts.
