CBAPP students and their families fill the LSU Ballroom every spring for the annual CBAPP Honors Induction Ceremony. The Ceremony is held to recognize students’ high academic achievement in their major. Their commitment to academic success is acknowledged by their induction into one of the following honors societies: Alpha Phi Sigma-Criminal Justice Administration, Delta Mu Delta-Business Administration, or Pi Alpha Alpha-Public Administration. Each society engages inductees in the society's recitation of the oath. The Dean, Faculty Advisors (Marie Palladini J.D., Kirti Celly Ph.D., and Rui Sun, Ph.D.), and Chapter Officers presents inductees with a membership pin and official society certificate.
HONORS SOCIETIES
Alpha Phi Sigma recognizes academic excellence of Undergraduate and Graduate students of Criminal Justice, as well as Juris Doctorate students. The goals of Alpha Phi Sigma are to honor and promote academic excellence; community service; educational leadership and unity. Alpha Phi Sigma is the only Criminal Justice Honor Society which is a certified member of The Association of College Honor Societies and affiliated with The Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
Delta Mu Delta is an international business honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence of students to create a DMD community that fosters the well-being of its individual members and the business community through life-time membership. Becoming a member of Delta Mu Delta is an honor indicative of earnest, intelligent purpose and rewarding achievement. The name Delta Mu Delta stands for the Greek phrase – DIA MATHESEOS DYNAMIS – which literally translated, signifies –THROUGH KNOWLEDGE, POWER – not the power of uncontrolled aggression, but the power to manage for social and economic good. Knowledge is not selfish or self-seeking, and the true student will seek and obtain knowledge for the greater purpose of helping others through service and transmission of things learned.
Pi Alpha Alpha is the global honor society for public affairs and administration. The purposes of this society is to encourage and recognize outstanding scholarship and accomplishment in public affairs and administration, to promote the advancement of education and practice in the art and science of public affairs and administration, and to foster integrity, professionalism and creative performance in the conduct of governmental and related public service activities.
