Judith joined the Earth Sciences department as a student in 1993. She returned as a part-time Lecturer in 2000 and is presently a full-time Lecturer in the department. Her graduate studies focused on reconstructing the paleoclimate of the Los Angeles Basin, especially streamflow. Consequently, water supply to the Los Angeles area is a strong interest of hers. Several of her courses focus on our local water supply, and she routinely takes geography students to the Mono Lake basin and Owens Valley to traverse and learn about Los Angeles' precarious water delivery system. Judith possess a strong familiarity with resources and environmental issues in all mediterranean-climate zones, and has widely explored the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and the Palos Verdes Peninsula. At present, she volunteers in a beach bluff restoration project in Redondo Beach, and is on the Science Advisory Board to the Palos Verdes Land Conservency. She also volunteers in the Cornucopia project in Malibu, bringing native plant restoration and organic gardening projects to the students at Malibu High School.
