CSUDH is committed to maintaining a safe learning and work environment. One of the approaches that this is accomplished, is by offering students working in research labs or student assistants working in instructional labs on campus various trainings conducted by the Chemical Hygiene Officer.
All research students and student assituants on this campus are required to abide by federal, state, local, and university policies.
These trainings were established to help prevent incidents, accidents, illnesses and injuries; increase safety awareness; meet requirements of environmental, occupational health, and safety laws and regulations; reduce liability; and establish safety responsibilities for those students in research. CSUDH research student working in labs on campus are expected to be thoroughly familiar with their safety responsibilities, strive to follow safety practices at all times, act proactively to prevent accidents and injuries, communicate hazards to their supervisor, and be prepared for emergencies that may occur in the workplace.
P.I.s need to contact the Chemical Hygiene Officer through email for available dates/times for the training of their students.
