The average temperature in the coastal areas of southern California is 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Warmer summer weather can begin as early as April and last well into October. CSUDH employs landscapers, tradespersons, and many others who work outdoors. The campus also has some indoor areas that are not air conditioned. Employees may work in or around these areas. When the weather warms up, dehydration and heat illnesses become more likely. This program outlines the safety measures that are in place to protect campus employees from heat illnesses whether they are working outside or indoors.
