United Greek Council Recruitment / Intake

Find brotherhood, sisterhood, siblinghood, a sense of belonging, and the ability to make a difference. 

  • Fraternities and Sororities bring in new members through a process called membership intake or recruitment.
  • Membership intake is the process selection, education, and initiation of new members into the organization over a period of time set by the specific organization.
  • Some organizations participate in membership intake each semester while others do so once a year. 
  • All organizations are founded upon the ideals of personal growth, academic excellence, friendship, and service.

Formal Recruitment / Intake Checklist

  1. Follow UGC on Instagram to stay updated with important information regarding your recruitment (@UGC_csudh).

  2. Fill out the Recruitment Interest Form:  https://torolink.csudh.edu/submitter/form/start/617848This just lets us know you are interested in joining an organization.

  3. Make sure you meet the GPA requirements.

  4. Review information about each organization and do your research to find out which organization is right for you.

  5. Stop by the Information Tables during the first 2 weeks of school to meet and get to know each organization.

  6. Attend an Informational, fill out an application, discuss fees.  Fees range from $250 - $500.
  7. Complete all Intake Forms and Required Modules required by Fraternity and Sorority Life.

UGC Fraternities and Sororities Recruitment Schedule

Learn the Basics:

  • Each organization in UGC celebrates a unique culture or ethnicity. Research each organization, looking for those that encompass a part of your own identity or align with a community that you strongly support. Try to find a fraternity or sorority that reflects the values, goals, and objectives that fit best with your own. 

Schedule:

Monday, August 25 - Wednesday, September 3:

  • Information tabling on the East Walkway
  • 10:00am - 3:00pm each day

Thursday, September 4:

  • Check out all organizations at the Fall Involvement Fair (Club Fair)
  • 2:00pm - 5:00pm @ the North Lawn

Thursday, September 4 - September 22:

  • Individual organizations will be hosting recruitment events (socials) that you need to stop by and show your interest
  • This is the time to get to know the organization that you want to join.  It's about the people in it - Those who will become your best friends.

Monday, September 29:

  • New Member Period (Fall Lines) begin and run for around 8 weeks

First-time freshmen:

  • Some organizations allow first-time freshman to join per their national requirements. Others allow prospective members to join during the spring semester.

Organizations allowing first-time freshman:

  • Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity
  • Omega Delta Phi Fraternity
  • Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity
  • Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority
  • Sigma Pi Fraternity
  • Upsilon Kappa Delta Sorority

√  Students should join their first semester in order to get connected to friends and academic resources on campus.


Requirements for 2nd semester freshmen:

  • Must complete first semester with a GPA of 2.3 or higher.  Individual organizations may set higher GPA requirements such as a 2.5 or 2.7.
  • Organizations will form "Interest" during the first semester.  Interest will attend events throughout the semester including study sessions, social activities, service events, etc. to form bonds and develop leadership experiences with the organization.
