We are thrilled to have you and your family be part of our Toro community. The first step in our journey together is attending orientation for new students so that we may support you as you embark on this great milestone.
The New Student Orientation (NSO) program is committed to ensuring that as you become part of our Toro community, you receive an onboarding experience that introduces you to campus, provides opportunities to meet faculty and staff, and become familiar with campus resources and services.
Participating in NSO is required for students to register for Fall 2023. If a student does not attend NSO, they will not be able to enroll for the Fall 2023 term.

New Student Orientation is open to conditionally admitted students who have submitted their intent to enroll. As a reminder, the intent to enroll requires a non-refundable $125 intent to enroll deposit. To attend The New Student Orientation, students must register and pay the non-refundable $99 NSO fee by the June 1, 2023, deadline.
You are conditionally admitted until final transcripts are received and verified by the admissions office. The final transcript deadline for first year students is July 15, 2023. Final official transcripts must include your graduation date. Our admissions office prefers electronic transcripts sent to admissions@csudh.edu. There may be instances where a student attends NSO and then the admissions status changes based on a review of final transcripts.
Students who do not meet admission requirements or deadlines are not eligible to attend NSO. Students who are in the process of appealing an admissions decision are not eligible to attend NSO.
To register for NSO, log into your my.CSUDH.edu account.
You must submit the intent to enroll before you are eligible to register for NSO. If you are having difficulties logging into your my.CSUDH.edu account, contact the IT Help Desk at 310-243-2500. If you are having difficulties with the NSO registration process, contact NSO at 310-243-2626 or firstyearnso@csudh.edu.
The registration process within the my.CSUDH.edu account will ask you to select a NSO date and submit payment for the NSO fee.
The New Student Orientation sessions are scheduled for June 2023 so that students complete NSO in time to attend Dominguez Hills First Year Experience (DHFYE) summer program (July-August 2023). We encourage you to register early for NSO, as NSO registration closes May 1.
Please note that capacity is limited, and the dates may no longer be available if you wait too long to register.
The New Student Orientation will include the following:
NSO Dates: You may select the date pairings that works best for you, on a first-come, first-served basis. Be mindful of your high school graduation and other important dates when you select an NSO date.
FOR DAY 1: Prepare to be on campus, in-person from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. You will select a date that corresponds with your major/college. Need help identifying your college? Click here for information about colleges and majors.
FOR DAY 2: Please note that your day 2 corresponds to your selected day 1. You will have the opportunity to select an in-person or virtual session depending on college preference.
Review the chart below and identify your preferred day 1 and day 2 pairing. For example, if you are majoring in Psychology which is in the College of Natural & Behavioral Sciences and select June 8 for NSO day 1, your corresponding NSO day 2 will be on June 12.
NSO is a mandatory enrollment requirement. Students are expected to register and attend all components of NSO as well as complete all NSO activities to remain eligible for enrollment.
For first year students, this may include, but not limited to
It is important to continuously check your Toromail email account to receive important information. Students who do not complete NSO are not eligible for fall enrollment and would need to reapply for the following open academic term.
Students who were not able to complete their scheduled NSO requirement on the day of their orientation can submit an NSO Petition for consideration. NSO Petition is only a request and not guaranteed approval.
If you have questions regarding the NSO requirement, or the policies regarding orientation, please email firstyearnso@csudh.edu.
Students who do not register for NSO by the posted deadline or students who do not attend a scheduled NSO date, are not eligible to enroll for the academic year in which they applied. The NSO Petition is for students who had extenuating circumstances that prevented them from attending a scheduled NSO date or from registering for NSO by the deadline. Please be aware that petitions are meant to cover students’ extenuating circumstances and not that of the extended family.
