Rideshare Benefits

Choosing to carpool or share your ride to work has a wide range of benefits. Sure, you're helping the environment by cutting down on emissions. But you also can save money on gas, car maintenance, oil changes, parking, tires, and more! By opting to share your ride with others, you can reduce commute time, avoid traffic congestion, and relax on your way to work. Some specific benefits of participating in the Rideshare Program are listed in the dropdowns below.

Guaranteed Ride Home

Take the worry out of ridesharing with the Guaranteed Ride Home program! The program allows us to provide our employees who rideshare to work with free taxi or rental car rides home in cases of illness, emergency, or unexpected overtime.

The Guaranteed Ride Home program is jointly sponsored by Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), Orange County Transportation Authority, Riverside County Transportation Commission, San Bernardino Omnitrans, and Ventura County Transportation Commission.

Preferential Parking

All carpool parking spaces are designated by the appropriate signs. These spaces are available between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. After this, the spaces become available to general student and visitor parking. Preferential spaces can be found in lots 2, 3, 4, 6, and the Physical Plant area.

  • Preferential parking spaces may increase or decrease in number according to available spaces and demand.
  • If a carpooler drives alone to the work site (less than two passengers per car), they must park in a regular parking space.
  • Carpool hanging parking tags must be visible anytime a participant parks in designated spaces. The carpool parking tags are the responsibility of the primary driver and must be returned to the Rideshare Office upon a discontinued carpool or separation of employment.
  • Each year, employees will be issued a serialized hanging tag. Note: carpool tags are not transferable.
