Course Goals

The purpose of the SACHI ("true") program is to provide our students with an immersive applied learning experience in finance, marketing, and international business in the Indian context. India is the most culturally, linguistically, socio-economically, and politically diverse country in the Asian sub-continent and is the largest democracy in the world measured by population with an expected increase in growth in 2020 that is roughly twice that of the developed countries. India is also amongst the ten largest economies of the world measured either nominally or according to purchasing power parity (PPP).

Finally, India is amongst the U.S.’s top ten trading partners (IMF World Economic Outlook; U.S. Census Bureau Foreign Trade), with a balance of trade in favor of India for both goods and services, and services (Office of the U.S. Trade Representative). The strategic importance of understanding doing business in India, therefore, cannot be understated.

Study Abroad India Learning Objectives

Students will be introduced to local firms and their management in India in the areas of finance, investments, technology, real estate, venture capital, and biotechnology industries.
