For incoming first-year students in the following STEM majors: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science and Physics.
You will be placed in either MAT 153 (Pre-Calculus) or MAT 103 (Introduction to College Algebra) for Fall 2022, based on the placement you received from the Chancellor's Office. You may be able to take a different course by participating in the summer Calculus Success Academy, or by earning a 3 or higher on the Calculus AB or BC AP exams. Click here for more information.
You can begin working on learning modules as soon as you sign up! You will meet twice a week between July 11 and August 19, 2022 where you will be connecting with other STEM students to work on interesting problems and hone your problem solving skills for fall! Throughtout the course, you will also have the opportunity to review the critical Algebra skills you need to be successful in the fall, and you will have up to 5 attempts to take an exam to place into a different course.
To participate in the Calculus Success Academy, you will need to have a laptop or tablet. You also need to have a commitment to attending weekly class meetings and working independently to complete course assignments.
The CSA is a two-unit Credit/No Credit course. You will be given instructions on how to sign up for this course during your New Student Orientation.
