Our Mission and Goals

Mission

Our Mission is to increase the retention and graduation rates of first generation, low-income, and disabled students. Program participants receive a myriad of services to ensure a smooth transition to CSUDH, as well as ongoing support toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education.

Goals

The Student Support Services Program is designed to -

(a) Increase the college retention and graduation rates of eligible students;

(b) Foster an institutional climate supportive of the success of students who are limited English proficient, students from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education, individuals with disabilities, homeless children and youth, foster care youth, or other disconnected students; and

(c) Improve the financial and economic literacy of students in areas such as -

  1. Basic personal income, household money management, and financial planning skills; and
  2. Basic economic decision-making skills.
