Event Planning

If you are planning an event, and one or more of the following situations apply, please contact the Office of Ceremonies and Events to schedule a consultation:

  • The President, high-ranking officials or representatives, elected officials, or other dignitaries will be participating or attending;
  • Event is a ceremony of campus-wide significance, such as a ground-breaking ceremony, building dedication, important anniversary or something similar;
  • Need event-planning advice

Scheduling the President

The President looks forward to attending campus or social events, or speaking to campus groups. To request the President’s attendance at your event, please download, complete, and submit the appropriate form to your Department Vice President for approval. Once the President Attendance Request Forms has been approved by your Department Vice President, send it to the President’s Office. The President’s office requires these requests no later than 4 weeks before the event. All event-related printed materials that include the name of the President require approval prior to publication and/or distribution.

Government or Community Involvement

Will you be inviting government officials or have a community organization involved in or attending your event? Contact the Office of Government and Community Relations at http://www.csudh.edu/gcr/contact-us/index or call (310) 243-3787.

Design and Creative Services

University Communications provides professional art direction and design services for university promotional materials, print, and electronic communications. The design and content of event promotional materials bearing the President’s name must be approved by the President’s Office.

Social Media Policies & Guidelines

To assist in posting content and managing CSUDH social media sites, the university has developed policy and guidelines for official use of social media. These apply to university faculty, staff, students and other representatives, and can be used in connection with social media accounts associated with colleges, schools, departments, programs, clubs and other university entities.

Reservation Request

Reservation Process

Meetings and events held on campus, except academic classes, are scheduled through our EMS online tool. Our office will help you address questions regarding policies, parking and transportation services, decorations and marketing, catering and food, safety and insurance, technical services, campus amenities, and fees with the information provided under “Event Resources”.

To receive the best selection of meeting and event space, it is recommended a reservation request be submitted with as much advance notice as possible. A reservation request is considered tentative, and will not be considered confirmed, until all information is completed the reservation request is in place.

Audio/Visual Services

If you are using a venue outside of the Loker Student Union, and need audio/visual services, please contact Instructional Media Services. Loker Student Union's Reservations and Event Staff will assist you with all of your event needs.

CSUDH Police Department

CSUDH Police is one of the departments that should be informed of all special events held on campus.

Environmental Health & Occupations Safety (EH&OS) and Risk Management

EH&OH/Risk Management provide guidelines on venue capacity, venue set-up, fire safety, and first aid.


Parking Services is the one-stop place to meet all your special event parking needs. Whether it's a last-minute visitor or a conference for two thousand, Parking will coordinate hassle-free parking for your guests.

The University Parking Department administers all requests for Special Event Parking. Requests must be made in writing 72 hours prior to the event.

Loker Student Union

The Loker Student Union provides an environment which is designed to encourage interaction among the campus’ constituent groups (internal and external), enhance the sense of campus community, and expand the avenues through which the university educates students. Campus Facilities

University Theatre (lease agreement for outside groups only)

The University Theatre has a scene shop, state of the art lighting and sound equipment, rehearsal room, men's and women's dressing rooms, box office, design rooms, and a comfortable lobby. The Theatre can seat a maximum of 485 guests for lectures, cultural programs, plays, concerts, and dance recitals.

Athletics (ToroDome, Fields, etc.)

If you are interested in renting one of the CSUDH athletic facilities, please contact the Facilities Coordinator.

Art Gallery, Classrooms, Claudia Hampton Hall, Conference Rooms, Japanese Garden, Sculpture Garden and Library.

The Facilities Leasing and Scheduling Office assists on- and off-campus groups and organizations in presenting non-instructional events and activities by scheduling use of campus facilities

College of Extended and International Education
