Alumnus Jonathan Henderson hosts Power Hour

Jonathan Henderson is a project manager, scholar-organizer, and researcher who is passionate about equity for Black communities across a broad range of academic and societal settings. Jonathan has dedicated the majority of his career to building equity initiatives in support of Black student success in higher education. Jonathan was involved in the Black Lives Matter Movement and Black Student Movements from 2014 – 2016, and was instrumental in the push for and creation of the first Black Resource Center named The Rose Black Resource Center at California State University Dominguez Hills, where he ultimately served as its inaugural Project Coordinator from 2016-2018. Currently, Jonathan Henderson serves as Regional Coordinator for Umoja Community Education Foundation. Umoja Community Education Foundation is a community and critical resource dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of African-American students at 68 + community colleges in California. In his role, Jonathan works to lead the growth and support of Umoja Programs at 7- community colleges in San Diego County. Along with supporting Black student success, Jonathan has taught courses in Sociology, Labor Studies and Black Studies in the Cal State and California Community College systems. Additionally, Jonathan holds a BA & MA in Sociology from CSUDH and is currently working on a Doctorate Degree in Postsecondary Leadership at San Diego State University.
